Description sommaire

Plante terrestre. Taille de 50 à 65 cm. Feuilles de 4 à 6, de 150-520 × 70-144 mm, elliptiques. Fleurs de 20 à 30, blanches, violettes. Eperon de 20 à 40 mm. Sépale dorsal lancéolé, de 20-35 × 9-12 mm. Sépales latéraux elliptiques, ovales, de 13-35 × 4-12 mm. Pétales elliptiques, de 16-30 × 8-10 mm. Labelle trilobé, de 10-25 × 8-20 mm.

Commentaires

Terrestre, en forêt (d'où le nom sylvatica). Présente aux Mascareignes, aux Comores et aux Seychelles, ainsi que dans de nombreux pays d'Afrique et d'Asie. Perrier considérait C. warpuri Rolfe comme une forme altitudinaire plus petite et à fleurs plus foncées de cette espèce, elle est aujourd'hui listée dans les synonymes de C. madagascariensis.
